Dear Friend,
More than 5,000 rockets hit Israel on one of the holiest days of the year as the Feast of Tabernacles ended.
Hundreds were killed. Thousands were wounded. More than 200 were captured and taken back to Gaza as hostages.
Many of them were dragged through the streets. Some women and children were beaten to death. Others were tied up naked and thrown like trash into the back of trucks.
I wish I could tell you that the terrible attack is now over…and that peace will return to the region. But that is not so.
Israel is at war – and it has no choice – it has to destroy Hamas. How else do you deal with an organization that is dedicated to your destruction? The elimination of Israel is the goal of Hamas. It’s in writing; it’s part of their founding charter.
I could fill pages with the details of the brutality and barbarism that took place. As soon as the attack occurred, I travelled to Israel. I was there. I saw things I can’t even write about…things that I will never forget.
The destruction of Hamas will take time. They are well funded (mainly by Iran), and they have literally dug themselves into the ground. Israel has been fighting for weeks to clear the terrorist tunnels and weapons caches. Hundreds of IDF soldiers have been injured or killed…but Israel has no choice.
Not only is Israel forced to fight Hamas in Gaza, but at the same time, it is defending itself against great threats from the north. Iran has poured more than 400,000 missiles into Lebanon in preparation for war. Iran is poised for a strike upon the nation of Israel because they are on the brink of developing nuclear weapons, and they don’t want Israel to stop them.
It’s unbelievable, but again, we see much of the world’s press blame Israel for causing the attacks, and now when Israeli forces try to prevent future atrocities, they are portrayed as the villains in the story.
The events of recent days have grabbed the headlines as they should, but sadly, there is an underlying reality that is rarely even mentioned.
Unprovoked terror attacks are not events that only happen once in a while. They happen day in and day out. In recent years, there has been an average of 8 attacks per day, which is almost 3,000 each and every year!
I know it’s hard to hear things like this because we don’t want them to be true.
Of course, the recent attacks have been at unprecedented levels. The atrocities that have been discovered have reduced grown men to tears to see the absolute brutality and inhumanity that these precious people suffered.
It is heartbreaking and horrifying, and I have to tell you, it makes me very angry.
Children were killed…stripped, raped, and slaughtered…elderly people were dragged off into Gaza for one reason and one reason only…because they were Jews.
The evil hatred of anti-Semitism is more alive and a greater threat today than at any time since the Holocaust.
SOMEONE has to take a stand. Someone has to say this is wrong and must stop. Someone has to tell…and show…the Jewish people that they are not alone.
Will you be that someone today?
I’m Mike Evans, head of the Jerusalem Prayer Team and founder and CEO of the Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem. We are a global group of tens of millions of believers who stand with and for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people. Our purpose is to fulfill the Bible command to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and to bless the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Every single day, we are doing all that we can to speak out in defense of Israel and help victims of terror and their families in their time of great crisis. We also feed thousands of impoverished elderly Jewish people in Israel daily…with many of them being survivors of the Holocaust.
I’ve dedicated my life to fighting against anti-Semitism.
I even got nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for that work. My desire to do this started when I was unable to defend my Jewish mother from her husband, my own father. Even though he was a violent anti-Semite, he married a Jew…and then beat and abused her horribly.
I couldn’t protect her when I was a young child. But God placed the calling on me to protect and bless the entire nation of Israel and Jewish people around the world, and I am committed to doing everything we can to fight this great evil.
But we must also answer the command of God given thousands of years ago to the prophet Isaiah: “Comfort ye, comfort ye My people” (Isaiah 40:1).
That’s why I need your help. None of the humanitarian outreach that we are doing to bless and protect God’s Chosen People is possible without the generous financial support of friends like you.
It’s not enough for us just to be outraged by the murder of innocent Jewish people. It’s not enough for us just to shake our heads in disbelief that such evil hatred still exists. It’s not enough for us to hope someone else will take up the cause.
It is up to you and me.
The truth is that most Jewish people do not believe that Christians love them. They have often been persecuted and even killed by those who claim to be following Jesus.
Today, we want to show the thousands of Jewish victims of terror and the nation of Israel that we are standing with them today in this, their greatest time of crisis since the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.
Please send your generous donation for the Friends of Zion. This gift will be used to touch the lives of so many Jewish people. Right now, we are providing food and life-saving help to many in the south of Israel – people who can’t leave their homes. There is less than 15 seconds warning of incoming rockets, which continue to rain down on Israel.
Even as much of the world’s press complains Israel is harming citizens of Gaza, Hamas continues to launch rockets at Israel…and where do they launch them from? From neighborhoods that are filled with civilians…men, women, and children.
So today, we are reaching out across the nation to those in need with immediate and practical help in the short term, BUT we must do more.
That’s why we have established the Friends of Zion Rapid Response Center that helps these precious Jewish people who have lost so much in these attacks rebuild their lives by providing shattered families with critical financial assistance, individual counseling, and ongoing support groups to help them overcome the emotional trauma they will face.
This is a major undertaking, but the need is so great, that we simply couldn’t wait. Your gift will be put to work immediately so that we can continue to respond to the ongoing crisis.
If you are able to give a gift of $30 or more, we will send you a beautiful Friends of Zion olivewood pen. This laser-engraved pen is a beautiful writing implement, but far more, it will be a constant prayer reminder as you use it throughout the day. You will also receive an American and Israeli flag lapel pin. It is a great way for you to show your support of the Jewish state and your belief that America must stand with Israel.
If you are able to give a gift of $60 or more to help provide food, medical care, and other critical resources to families shattered by these violent terror attacks, letting them know that they are not alone, you will receive the Bible Promise Box. This box is filled with small cards that contain God’s promises for your life that you can select and read each day. You will also receive the olivewood pen and the lapel pin.
If you are able to give an incredibly generous gift of $100 or more, we will send you a beautiful, full-color afghan with the words of God to the prophet Isaiah, “Comfort ye, comfort ye My people.” This is exactly what you are doing when you send your gift of love to meet this need. You will also receive the lapel pin, the olivewood pen, and the Bible Promise Box.
Will you comfort God’s Chosen People today? Will you be their hope? Will you be their defense? Will you be God’s hands and feet of love stretched out to them? I pray that your answer will be YES.

Dr. Mike Evans
